Mihoko Obunai was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan. After receiving a degree in education at New York University, and a culinary degree from the French Culinary Institute, she worked at Michelin starred  restaurants in New York City before relocated to Atlanta.  

 

In 2005, Mihoko co-opened Restaurant Repast in Midtown Atlanta where she incorporated her Japanese influences, ingredients and cooking techniques to the Repast menu.  Repast was nominated for the best new restaurant in the US. 

 

Featured in various publications, Mihoko was invited to cook at James Beard House in New York City.  She was also selected as a Rising Star Chef and later competed on the Food Network's Chopped.  Having helmed successful Ramen pop-ups nationwide, she continues to amaze with her subtle blend of traditional cooking technique and bold, savory innovation. 

Mihoko is an established educator and communicator to articulate her cooking skills, teaching at both the Le Cordon Bleu and the Art institute of Atlanta.
