Mihoko Obunai, a culinary master, was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan. She holds degrees in education from New York University and a culinary arts from the French Culinary Institute. Prior to relocating to Atlanta, Obunai worked at renowned Michelin-starred restaurants in New York City.
In 2005, Mihoko co-opened Restaurant Repast in Midtown Atlanta, where she seamlessly integrated her Japanese culinary influences, ingredients and techniques to the Repast menu. This innovative approach earned Repast a nomination for the prestigious award of best new restaurant in the United States.
Obunai's culinary expertise has been recognized though numerous publications, and she has invited to cook at the esteemed James Beard House in New York City. Additionally, she was selected as a Rising Star Chef and participated in the renowned Food Network competition, Chopped. Obunai's success in hosting successful ramen pop-ups across the nation has solidified her reputation for combining traditional cooking techniques with bold, savory innovations.
As an accomplished educator and communicator, Obunai articulates her culinary skills through teaching at esteemed institutions such as the Le Cordon Bleu and Art Institute of Atlanta. Her captivating cooking style ensures that her audience will never experience culinary boredom.
